Appalachian Ski Mountain’s Outdoor Ice Skating Rink is Now Open, Offering Three Two-Hour Sessions Daily

By Jesse Wood

Dec. 6, 2012. Appalachian Ski Mountain offers the perfect complement to its slopes with North Carolina’s only Zamboni-maintained ice rink, which is now open.

The outdoor ice arena has a refrigerated ice floor and is fully lit at night time for skating underneath the stars everyday of the week. Spectators can watch the action and stay warm beside a bonfire next to the skating rink.

The rink is open during three two-hour sessions, starting at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Skating costs $14 per session, which includes complimentary skates – traditional and hockey – if needed. Hockey skates cost $3 extra.

Group rates and birthday packages are available. Individual and group lessons are available by appointment. For more information, click to www.appskimtn.com or call 1-800-322-2373.

New Year’s Eve Moonlight Skating

Although the rink is closed on Christmas Eve, don’t forget about moonlight skating during New Year’s Eve.
