Appalachian Rollergirls Take the Win Against the French Broads; Score 183-127 in Saturday Bout in Hickory

June 11, 2014. On Saturday, June 7, the Appalachian Rollergirls women’s roller derby team took home a strong win against the Blue  Ridge French Broads of Asheville.

After beating out the French Broads with a total score of 183-127 in their fourth matchup against the team, the Rollergirls will host a home bout at the Holmes Convocation Center on Aug. 9. The bout will begin at 6 p.m. and proceeds will benefit the High Country Conservancy.

“Our MVPs of the game were: ARG Lauren Feeney aka Feendish, a Jammer and ARG Cameron Saville aka Cammunition, a blocker,” read  a press release. 

Currently, ARG is 1-3, most recently losing to Rogue Rollergirls of Fayetteville by 14 points. The bout against the French Broads represents the first win for the Rollergirls this year. 

The Appalachian Rollergirls are an all-female flat track roller derby team based in Boone. A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the team’s mission is to encourage female athleticism, empowerment and community awareness through various activities and events.
