July 19, 2012. Appalachian State University football has unveiled an alternate uniform featuring a vintage Yosef logo that will be worn for the Mountaineers’ Sept. 29 duel versus Coastal Carolina.

The alternate uniform features a black Nike Pro Combat jersey with athletic gold helmet and pants. The helmet and jersey feature the Yosef logo that adorned the Mountaineers’ helmets from 1971-79.

Following the Sept. 29 contest against CCU, fans can bid to purchase the alternate jerseys through an online auction to be held at GoASU.com

The alternate helmets will also be sold to fans with the first 75 being offered exclusively to Yosef Club members. Information regarding the alternate helmets sale will be included in the season-ticket packets that will be distributed later this month (Yosef Club members that are not season-ticket holders will receive the information in a separate mailing). Additionally, a limited number of helmets will be auctioned at GoASU.com.

In conjunction with the alternate uniforms, Appalachian athletics will unveil a line of exclusive merchandise featuring the 1970s Yosef logo on August 1. Retailers set to carry the vintage line include Mountaineer Mania, Sports Fanatic, Boone Walmart, the University Bookstore, the GoASU.com online store (shop.GoASU.com) and college-cornhole.com with additional outlets expected to be added and announced throughout the fall.

Fans are encouraged to wear apparel with the vintage logo to the Sept. 29 battle between the Mountaineers and Chanticleers, which will feature promotions throughout the game that harken back to the disco era.
