Appalachian State University football officially completed its class of 23 newcomers on Wednesday’s National Signing Day. The class of 23 includes two student-athletes that are already enrolled at Appalachian State and 21 that signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to attend Appalachian in the fall.

In addition to having the No. 3-ranked recruiting class in the Sun Belt Conference according to ESPN, Appalachian State has landed one of the most academically gifted group of newcomers in the nation. The average grade point average of the Mountaineers’ 23 newcomers is 3.533.

“We’re really excited to welcome these 23 young men to the Appalachian family,” head coach Scott Satterfield said. “In addition to being one of the most talented groups of football players that we have ever signed, it is a group that excels in the classroom with an average GPA above 3.5. We’re glad to already have two of these impressive student-athletes on campus and can’t wait to have the rest of the class join us this summer. I’m confident that this class will make App Nation proud with their achievements on the field, in the classroom and in the community.”
