App Men’s Hoops Continues Preseason Practice

Appalachian State University men’s basketball were back at it on Monday evening at Varsity Gym for preseason practice.

The Mountaineers have held two intrasquad scrimmages thus far in the preseason and are progressing daily before holding its only exhibition of the preseason next Tuesday, Nov. 3 against Belmont-Abbey at the Holmes Center.

On Monday, second-year head coach Jim Fox opened up practice with his players spreading out to each basket and shooting free throws.

Following free throws, the team began to work on offensive and defensive rebounding drills on two different baskets and executed well getting out in transition and securing possession. The Black and Gold also used drills to focus on fighting through low-post screens and challenging shooters on the perimeter.

Most of the emphasis came toward the middle of practice when the team used honed in on attacking zone defenses, while using a variety of schemes. The drill stressed defensive rotations and lots of communication on defense.

Single-game and season tickets remain on sale for men’s basketball home games throughout the 2015-16 season.

Tickets to catch the Black and Gold on Broadway in New York City at Madison Square Garden remain on sale. The Apps will square off against Hofstra at “The World’s Most Famous Arena” on Dec. 6.
