Nov. 20, 2014. It’s a gorgeous day atop App Ski Mtn. as it opens for the 2014-15 winter season on Thursday, which will be the second time in the past two decades that the mountain has opened earlier than scheduled.

“We will have a historic best in terms of the amount of snow and conditions and number of slopes open,” App Ski Mtn. General Manager Brad Mortetz said on Thursday morning. “We’ve never seen anything like this before.”

App Ski Mtn. features a base of 28 to 58 inches, nine of the 12 slopes and terrain parks are open all of the chair lifts and both conveyor lifts are operating on Thursday. Moretz added that the mountain is “jumping right into” day and nighttime skiing.

“I’d say this will help set the table for a great Thanksgiving,” Moretz said. “We’re just truly blessed this year with great snowmaking weather and this will just give the skiers and snowboarders an early Christmas.”

App Ski Mtn. opens at 9 a.m. and the fun lasts until 10 p.m.

The first 100 guests to the ticket window will receive a free ticket.
