June 24, 2013. On June 26, 2013, the Beech Mountain Department of Parks and Recreation and the Beech Mountain Club will host their second annual Walks for Wine event.
The Walk will start out at Beech Mountain Town Hall and depart at 3 p.m. to take an easy, scenic hike down a dirt road from the top of Beech Mountain to the Banner Elk Winery for a wine tasting. The hike will last between an hour and an hour and a half.
“It’s beautiful scenery and a very easy walk,” said Brie Powell, Program Coordinator for the Beech Mountain Department of Parks and Recreation.
“The wine from Banner Elk Winery is always delicious too.”
Participants are welcome to bring dogs on the Walk, however no pets are allowed inside the Banner Elk Winery itself. The walk is free, but tastings at the winery are $8 per person, which can be paid at the winery.
Participants are also welcome to come for just the walking portion of the event if they do not wish to participate in the wine tasting.
Transportation back from the winery will be provided by the Beech Mountain Club.
All participants in the event must be 21 or older.
