The 2013 Blowing Rock Tour of Homes to be Held on Friday, July 26; This Year Featuring Five Homes

July 15, 2013. The 55th Annual Tour of Homes in Blowing Rock will be held on Friday, July 26, sponsored by St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Parish. The Tour will feature five homes, all with interesting and varying features in design and style.

Transportation will be provided from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the houses will be open until 5 p.m. Although shuttles will run between the homes, the houses are close enough for a walking tour if desired. Parking will be available in the deck at Wallingford Street and Lauren Lane, next to the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum.

imgres-1Tickets for the Tour are $25 and may be purchased at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce on Park Avenue as of July 1 and at the church two weeks prior to the tour. They may not be purchased by mail. All proceeds go to support community projects and nonprofit organizations in the Blowing Rock/Boone area.

Bo Henderson and Susie Greene of Blowing Rock are co-chairing the event for the second year.

“Although the tour is sponsored by St. Mary’s, the entire community gets involved and we could not have a successful event without these special people,” Henderson said. “We are grateful for their support and look forward to many more tours with their assistance.”

Other activities offered at the church on tour day include lunch provided at the Madrigal Cafe by Foggy Rock Restaurant, lots of baked goods with a Parisian theme, and Timeless Treasures featuring a variety of unique household items including a “Wall of Wine”.

The annual Patron’s Party, which traditionally precedes the tour, is Thursday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Susan Little on Green Hill Road. Dress is black tie optional and the Bistro Roca restaurant will provide the food. Tickets are $150 and may be purchased at the church or by mail, with a check made out to St. Mary of the Hills – Patron’s Party, PO Box 1882, Blowing Rock, NC 2865. All proceeds go to local community outreach programs.

Anyone with questions may call Bo Henderson at 295-9494 or Susie Greene at 295-3217.
