Appalachian Roller Girls v Apocolypstix of Atlanta Roller Girls May 4, 2013 at the Holmes Center in Boone

April 24, 2013. Have you ever been to a roller derby game?  Actually, the games are called bouts and if you haven’t you are missing out on a very entertaining and intense sport!  The atmosphere is fun and family friendly and kids 12 and under receive free addmission.  You can always find a facepainter, poster station and activities during the half time show for the kids.
 
The Appalachian Rollergirls (ARG) of Boone are in their third season and will be playing their first home bout of this season on Saturday, May 4 at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center on Appalachian State University campus.  Currently for the 2013 season, ARG’s record is 2 losses and 1 win all on the road.

ARG will be hosting the Apocolypstix, a team within the Atlanta Rollergirls League.  This will be the first time the two teams have met.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge this team will bring.  We are trying to play more challenging teams so we can become a better team overall” says one of ARG’s team Captains Doc Holla Daze aka Cori Holladay.

Join the Appalachian Rollergirls April 28, 2013 from 7a.m.-10 a.m. at Boone’s Applebees on highway 321 for a Flapjack Fundraiser to raise funds for the upcoming bout. Tickets for the breakfast are $7 and can be purchased in advance from your favorite rollergirl or at the door.  Appalachian Rollergirls are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and always donate proceeds from their home bouts to local charities.  This home bout will benefit Autism Speaks University Chapter.
 
Tickets for the May 4 bout can be found online at www.theholmescenter.com or at the following local retail locations: Black Cat Buritto, Boone Drug at Deerfield, Lucky Penny, and Woodlands BBQ.  Adult tickets in advance are $10 and $12 at the door.  $5 student tickets with college ID, ASU/Caldwell.  Kids 12 and under are free.  For more info please email info@appalachianrollergirls.com.
