March 22, 2017. If everything goes as planned, the Starbucks store on Blowing Rock Road should be opening in August. Boone Planning & Inspections issued a building permit for the project on March 2. Dolphyn Commercial Contracting is the project’s contractor. The company is based out of Suwanee, Ga., and builds Starbucks stores across the Southeast. Local favorite and “Boone’s oldest dive” Murphy’s Pub has been purchased by a group of investors and another staple of the High Country, international charity organization Wine to Water. Jan. 27, 2017. Buyers could not get enough of the High Country real estate market in 2016. Sales were up tremendously, surpassing totals recorded each of the last nine years. The trend seemed to accelerate each month, as year-to-year activity increased through the final months of the year. Low interest rates attracted a lot of buyers. Inventory barely kept pace. About this time last year, the Boone Town Council approved the rezoning of the 0.7-acre property to a general business district. University Outlook is a development by Marty Rice of MET Holdings.
