Watauga Democratic Party Hosts Legacy Reception To Honor ‘One of Our Most Important’ Activists

Dec. 2, 2013. A Legacy Reception on Sunday, Dec. 8, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at CoBo’s Bistro and Bar (161 Howard St. Suite B, Boone) will honor the work of a widely recognized Democratic leader and will also launch major fundraising for the 2014 campaign.

“We will recognize the ‘legacy’ established by one of our most important Democratic activists,” said WataugaDems Fundraising Director Maggie Pearce, “but we’re also celebrating the legacy being created right now by a whole new generation of progressive young people who are struggling against organized voter suppression in Watauga County.”

The Legacy Reception will offer multiple levels of giving, from $10 for students, $25 for a single adult ticket, $40 for a couple, and sponsorships starting at $50. Advance tickets may be obtained on-line (http://www.eventbrite.com/e/legacy-reception-tickets-9418973403?aff=efbevent), or your contribution will be gladly accepted at the door via cash, check, or credit card.

Guests will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Representatives from College and Young Democrats and the Watauga Voting Rights Taskforce will speak and will present an award to the special “legacy” guest.

“This is really the opening of a major fundraising push for the 2014 campaigns,” said Pearce, “and we hope that all Democrats will choose to join us in solidarity and in hope for the future.” Democratic office-holders and future candidates from all across the state are expected to attend and rub shoulders with the local campaign team.
