Watauga County Voting Rights Task Force Protest at Appalachian State on Thursday, Oct. 26

On Oct. 19, 2017, Bill Aceto, the Chair of the Watauga County Board of Elections, requested a stay on a Wake County Superior Court ruling made on Oct. 12, which upheld the bipartisan plan to use the Appalachian State University Student Union as an early-voting site for Boone elections. Just a week after students won the right to vote early on campus, the site may still ultimately be denied.

In response, the Watauga County Voting Rights Task Force will be hosting a protest to show that there is support among students and community members for a voting site in the ASU Student Union. The protest will be held at Appalachian State University this Thursday, October 26, at 12 p.m., on Sanford Mall.
