Oct. 2, 2014. The Employees Political Action Committee (EMPAC), a member-led subsidiary of the State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC), announced recently its endorsement of Rep. Jonathan Jordan (R-Ashe).
Jordan, who is seeking his third term in the state House, was endorsed by the statewide committee following a recommendation from SEANC members at the local level based on his past — and expected future — support of North Carolina’s vital public services and the people who provide them. He has been especially instrumental in helping to stop efforts by Democratic State Treasurer Janet Cowell to enshrine secrecy in the North Carolina pension system.
“Rep. Jordan has been a strong ally of state employees in our quest for transparency and accountability in the retirement system, favoring working families in North Carolina over Wall Street fat cats,” SEANC President and Statewide EMPAC Committee Chairman Wayne Fish said.
In total, EMPAC has endorsed 80 candidates in races for the General Assembly in the November election. They include 56 House race endorsements and 24 in the Senate.
SEANC, SEIU Local 2008, is the South’s leading state employee association 55,000 members strong. To keep up on SEANC’s daily news, follow us on Twitter @SEANC2008 and “like” us on Facebook at facebook.com/SEANC.Local2008.
