Nov. 6, 2013. With current Councilman Andy Ball winning the Boone mayoral race by a landslide, the Boone Town Council will have another seat to fill once new council members and mayor are sworn in this December. Ball still has two years left on his council term.
After the unofficial election results were tallied last night, Ball said that he will be resigning from the Boone Town Council at some point in the next 37 days.
Ball added that the Boone Town Council will look for a council member by application, and then select a qualified a candidate, “somebody thoughtful and dedicated to the quality of life in the town.”
As for the process, Town Clerk Kim Brown said, “My understanding is that they will open that up at the council meeting when the board is seated and open that up for nomination.”
Brown added that she wasn’t sure whether the soliciting of applications would begin before or after the new board sits.
