Sen. Soucek To Host Second Forum on K-12 Education Changes in Deep Gap Tonight, Thursday, Dec. 5

Nov. 22, 2013. Sen. Dan Soucek will host a panel of education leaders to discuss recent K‐12 legislation and its impact on North Carolinians. The Education Forum will provide constituents with an opportunity to understand the changes and how they will impact education in Watauga County and throughout North Carolina.

The bi‐partisan panel will address topics such as teacher tenure, teacher pay raises, public charter schools, opportunity scholarships, and home school legislation, among other topics. Sen. Soucek co‐chairs the Senate Committee on Education. He represents Caldwell, Avery, Alleghany, Ashe and Watauga counties.

“Education remains a critical issue. All the recent legislative changes have led to confusion about what’s going on in Raleigh. This Education Forum provides all constituents an opportunity to understand the changes, to voice their thoughts, and to continue discussions with education leaders across the industry,” said Sen. Soucek.

There will be two Education Forums in the Watauga area. The first Education Forum will take place on Monday, Dec. 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Theater at Avery County High School – 401 Avery County High School Road, Newland, North Carolina 28657.
