Republicans N.C. Rep. Jonathan Jordan and Sen. Deanna Ballard won their respective races for N.C. House District 93 and N.C. Senate District 45. Jordan defeated Sue Counts, former director of the Watauga County Cooperate Extension, for the second election in a row, while Ballard defeated Art Sherwood of Caldwell County.

Here’s Ballard’s statement:

“I would like to thank all of the constituents who supported, voted and re-elected me to serve as the 45th District’s State Senator in our beautiful state of North Carolina.

Traveling more than 15,000 miles in the past six months across the district has taught me more than I could have imagined about our district’s distinct qualities and values — its legs stand on a strong sense of community, family, hard work, and responsibility.

“I am honored to represent these constituents and am committed to serving Ashe, Alleghany, Avery, Caldwell and Watauga counties with a genuine spirit and strong voice in Raleigh for the months and years to come.”
