June 7, 2013. Katy Munger, Director of On-Line & Traditional Outreach for Progress NC, will be the guest speaker at the June 12th luncheon of the Watauga County Democratic Women. The meeting is open to everyone.
As part of her talk, Munger will go over the highlights (and the low-lights) of this year’s legislative session at the NC General Assembly, and she will talk about what regular citizens can do about it. She will also address the “Moral Monday” protests that have accounted for over 300 arrests so far for civil disobedience, as well as Progress NC Action’s upcoming Awake the State campaign.
Katy Munger was raised in Raleigh, attended Needham B. Broughton High School, and is a graduate of the writing program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a lifelong communications specialist with extensive experience in financial services, environmental resources, and nonprofit communications. She has been involved in statewide politics since 2004 as an issues advocate and as a campaign manager and volunteer coordinator.
Prior to joining Progress North Carolina, she served as Communications Director for Democracy North Carolina. She is the mother of a 14-year old daughter, Suzette. She is also a crime fiction author, with 14 novels published to date.

The June 12th luncheon will begin at 11:30 at Golden Corral on Blowing Rock Road in Boone, with the guest speaker scheduled for approximately High Noon.
