According to an online vote tracker, Democrats and Unaffiliated voters outnumbered Republicans at the polls on the first day of early voting in Watauga County and North Carolina as a whole.

NCVoteTracker.com, a project of the Civitas Institute, provides other tidbits of voter data. Of the 1,537 votes cast on Thursday in Watauga County, 1153 of them are one-stop, while the remaining 384 are mail-in ballots.
More women have voted so far than men, and folks in their 60’s and early 70’s seem to be voting at the higher rate than other age groups. New River III is the top precinct with 214. See the data and more graphs here, where you can search by county.
Early voting continues at the Watauga County Administration Building for the remainder of the early voting period, which ends on Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. Other one-stop sites in the county – Plemmons Student Union on the App State campus, Blowing Rock, Deep Gap, Meat Camp and Cove Creek – will open up on Saturday, Oct. 27.
In Avery County, one-stop voting takes place inside the Avery County Board of Elections office in the Avery County Courthouse in Newland.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Same-day registration is available during early voting but not on Election Day. Also, you still have time to request an absentee, mail-in ballot.
