More Than 100 Vote on First Day of Early Voting in Watauga & Avery Counties

Nearly 70 people have voted through 4 p.m. on the first day of early voting in the 2015 municipal elections, according to Watauga County Board of Elections Director Matt Snyder.

“It’s not a huge number, but we’re getting there,” Snyder said.

Snyder said that most of the voters are from Boone with a handful from Blowing Rock and a couple from Beech Mountain.

“It’s been pretty steady throughout the day – no big rushes,” Snyder said.

In Avery County, 36 people had voted as of 4:30 p.m, according to staff at the Avery County Board of Elections.

Early voting for the 2015 municipal elections began on Thursday at 8 a.m.

While Election Day takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 3, registered voters may cast their ballots through Saturday, Oct. 31.

Early voting in Watauga County takes place on the lower level of the Watauga County Administration Building, which is next to the Watauga County Courthouse.

Early voting takes place in Watauga and Avery counties from Thursday – Friday, Oct. 22-23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday-Friday, Oct. 26-30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
