Sept. 24, 2014. Please join High Country Recreation, Blue Ridge Conservancy, and High Country Pathways for a Watauga County Commissioner Candidate’s Recreation Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Watauga Medical Center.
This non-partisan forum will give the county commissioner candidates an opportunity to discuss their views on recreation in our community.
“We look forward to hearing the candidate’s views on the future of recreation in Watauga County,” said Rob McCorkindale of Blue Ridge Conservancy. “Recreation, and in particular, outdoor recreation, is a significant driver of tourist dollars in our area.”
High Country Recreation began contacting commissioner candidates for this event in early August. All six candidates have agreed to participate in the informational event.
“Our goal is to create a great environment to discuss recreation issues as well as send a signal that recreation is important in the life of our community,” said Dr. Scott St. Clair of High Country Recreation. “This is a great opportunity to hear where the candidates stand on an important local issue.”
Public parking is available in the parking deck at Watauga Medical Center. Follow the sidewalk to the auditorium.
