Early Voting Begins at App State Today, See Sample Ballots and Other Early Voting Sites, Hours

By Jesse Wood

Early voting for the municipal elections is ongoing in Watauga County in the Plemmons Student Union on the campus of Appalachian State and in the lower level of the Watauga County Courthouse in downtown Boone. In Avery County, early voting is happening in the elections office in the Avery County Courthouse.

Like in previous elections, the battle over a one-stop site on the college campus ended at the very last minute. Yesterday, the N.C. Court of Appeals denied a two-week old stay of a Wake County Superior Court ruling blocking early voting on campus.

The appeal came down yesterday, hours before one-stop voting on campus was initially set to begin before the stay ruling. Early voting at the other Watauga County location began last week.

In Avery County, one-stop voting takes place only inside the elections office in the Avery County Courthouse.
