Sept. 4, 2014. Second quarter finance reports, which were due July 10, show that Republican candidates – N.C. Sen. Dan Soucek, N.C. Rep. Jonathan Jordan and U.S Rep. Virginia Foxx – have significantly more cash on hand two months before the general election than their Democratic opponents – Jim Sponenberg, Sue Counts and Josh Brannon.
As usual, Foxx has ridiculously deeper pockets than her candidate. Foxx has more than $2.1 million cash on hand, while the challenger has just more than $5,000. Foxx’s campaign has also spent more than $300,000, while finance reports for Brannon’s campaign notes $0 in expenditures.
While Jordan has more cash on hand than Counts, both have spent roughly the same amount of money during this election cycle. Jordan has spent nearly $46,000, while Counts has spent just over $43,000.
Soucek dominates Sponenberg in each of the cash-on-hand, expenditures and receipts categories as well.
