Boone Chamber Hosts Meet the Candidates Forum at Fairway Cafe on Oct. 24

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Meet the Candidates forum on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Fairway Café, located at the Boone Golf Club. Candidates for the upcoming Boone Town Council race have been invited to attend along with incumbent Mayor Rennie Brantz, who is running unopposed in his bid to keep his seat. An updated list of candidate RSVPs can be found at www.boonechamber.com. The projected schedule will be as follows:

6 p.m. – Welcome and opening statement

6:05 p.m. – Candidates for Boone Town Council and Town of Boone Mayor

Questions will be asked of all the candidates in a ‘round robin’ format; each having an opportunity to answer first, but all answering the same question.

The audience will be allowed to submit written questions during the forum.

All questions will be asked by the moderator. Each response will have a 1-minute time limit and each candidate will have a 2-minute closing statement.

This forum is not intended to be a debate between candidates or between the audience and the candidates, but rather an opportunity for the citizenry to hear each candidate’s position on topics important to all. In order to maintain decorum, political literature and signage will not be allowed in the room.

The event will be broadcast live by High Country Radio on WATA (1450/96.5).

As of October 10th, the following candidates have committed to attend:

  • Rennie Brantz – Boone Mayoral candidate
  • Charlotte Mizelle – Boone Town Council candidate
  • Jeannine Underdown Collins – Boone Town Council candidate
  • Sam Furgiuele – Boone Town Council candidate
  • Marshall Ashcraft – Boone Town Council Candidate
  • Quint David – Boone Town Council Candidate
  • Connie Ulmer – Boone Town Council Candidate
