Due to the flooding that occurred on Oct. 23, and pursuant to G.S. § 163-27.1, N.C. State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement Executive Director Kim Strach designated the Appalachian State University Plemmons Student Union as the Boone #2 Precinct voting location for the Nov. 7, 2017, election, according to an emergency announcement from the Watauga County Board of Elections on Thursday.
This Order is based on the finding that there is a substantial likelihood that a critical component of elections administration in Boone #2 Precinct (Legends) has been disrupted. The Boone 2 voting location has been changed to Appalachian State’s Plemmons Student Union in Room 201, the Blue Ridge Ballroom.
Voting will begin at 6:30 a.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. The entrance to the parking area is located in the 600 block of Howard Street in Boone. From the parking area follow the “Vote Here” directional arrows to the building entrance. The Blue Ridge Ballroom is located just inside the doors on the left, across from the Greenbriar Theater.
The Blue Ridge Ballroom can also be accessed from the Sanford Mall area or the Bookstore by going through the Student Union and up to the Second Floor. Should you have any questions, please call the Board of Elections at 828-265-8061.
