July 9, 2013. According to a list of filings from the Watauga County Board of Elections’ office, Blowing Rock Mayor J.B. Lawrence is seeking re-election, having filed his candidacy at the elections’ office on Tuesday.
As of today, Lawrence is the lone candidate running for the mayor of Blowing Rock. Filing for the 2013 municipal elections began last Friday and ends Friday, July 19.
Lawrence is the city president of United Community Bank in Blowing Rock and a native of Watauga County. He has served as mayor since 1997 and was a member of the Blowing Rock Town Council from 1989 to 1997.
