Final totals (19 of 19 precincts reporting):
Fay: 369 votes — 3.66 percent.

Griffith: 2,106 votes — 20.88 percent.
Heath: 1,723 votes — 17.08 percent.
Hicks: 2,487 votes — 24.65 percent.
Poteat: 1,951 votes — 19.34 percent.
Cuthbertson: 1,452 votes — 14.39 percent. 

Avery County Board of Education

Choices: Kathey Aldridge, John Greene, John Hicks, Keith Tutterow, write-in

Aldridge: 2,932 votes — 26.32 percent.

Greene: 2,850 votes — 25.59 percent.
Hicks: 2,567 votes — 23.05 percent.
Tutterow: 2,733 votes — 24.54 percent.
