June 24, 2013. Featuring keynote speaker and U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Greg Brannon, the Ashe County Republican Party hosted the Reagan-Lincoln Luncheon Saturday.
Ed McClearen, executive committee member of the Ashe County Republicans, said the party was very pleased with the turnout and that the Shatley Springs Restaurant was 90 percent filled to capacity.
McClearen added that Dr. Brannon was a “great speaker” and the audience “really enjoyed his message.”
U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx and N.C. Rep. Jonathan Jordan also attended the luncheon. N.C. Sen. Dan Soucek did not make it to the luncheon.
The Reagan-Lincoln Luncheon is a start to “1 to Win,” a county-wide effort by the Ashe County Republicans to get every conservative to donate $1 to the party, Mary Desautels Chairperson of the Ashe County Republicans said, adding that Saturday’s event was a “very successful fundraiser.”
Donations should be sent to the Ashe County GOP, P.O. 741, Jefferson, NC, 28640.
