Absentee Voting for the General Election in November Starts Today, Monday, Sept. 17, and Ends Nov. 5

Sept. 17, 2012. Absentee voting for the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 6, begins today, Monday, Sept. 17, and ends the day before the election on Monday, Nov. 5. The last day to request an absentee ballot is on October. 30. Requests for absentee ballots must be made in writing or in person by a family member at the offices of the Watauga County Board of Elections.

If you are registered in Watauga County, you may request an absentee ballot by mail from the board of elections if:

  • you expect to be out of Watauga County during voting hours,
  • you are ill or physically disabled and cannot enter the voting place,
  • you are observing a religious holiday pursuant to the tenets of your religion.
