Marie Norris Greer, D. June 25, 2012
Marie Norris Greer, age 82, of 938 Tater Hill Road, Zionville, died Monday afternoon, June 25, 2012, at Watauga Medical Center.

Mrs. Greer is survived by her husband, Ralph C. Greer of the home, and one sister-in-law, June Norris of Vilas. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford D. Norris and Bessie Reese Norris, one brother Franklin Norris and one sister Norma Lee Norris

Funeral services for Marie Norris Greer will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 28th at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Derick Wilson and Reverend Steve Leashomb officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery in Zionville. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.

Lewis Thomas

Lewis Thomas, D. June 22, 2012
Major Lewis Thomas, US Air Force Retired, age 88, of Boone, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living in Boone.

Major Thomas was born December 17, 1923 in Madison County, North Carolina, a son of the late Ed and Bonnie Shook Thomas. He served with the United States Air Force during World War II, with 23 years of service. After his retirement from the Air Force, Major Thomas employed for over 17 years with the Appalachian State University Physical Plant. He was a member of Laurel Springs Baptist Church, where he served both as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Major Thomas is survived by his wife, Dulus R. Thomas of the home; one daughter, Kalyn Hardy and husband Harold of Boone; two sons, Michael L. Thomas of Livingston, Montana, and Tim Thomas and wife Sharon of Marriottsville, Maryland; one grandson, Lance Corporal Gregory Hardy of Camp Lejune, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Jessica Thomas of Marriottsville, Maryland, and three sisters, Lucy, Corine, and Robin. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services for Major Lewis Thomas will be conducted Monday afternoon, June 25, 2012, at 2:00 o’clock, at Laurel Springs Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Brent Bolick. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Service.

Jerry Hank Ellison

Jerry Hank Ellison, D. June 22, 2012
Mr. Jerry Hank Ellison, age 59, of Vilas, died Friday morning June 22, 2012.

He was born April 3, 1953 in Wilkes County, North Carolina a son of Pink and Mary Icenhour Ellison.

Mr. Ellison is survived by his Mother, Mary Icenhour Ellison of Boone, four sisters; Tempie Woodring and husband Howard, Pearl Canter,and Pansy Ross and husband Dean, all of Boone, Bonnie Potter of Hickory, five brothers; Don Ellison, Robert Ellison and wife Shirley, Henry Ellison, and Charlie Ellison all of Boone, and George Ellison and wife Rachel of Mountain City, Tennessee, He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and cousins, and a special friend Sheila Chambers, of Vilas.

Mr. Ellison was preceded in death by his father, Pink Ellison, two sisters; Hazel Hogan and Evalee Kincaid, and an infant brother.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jerry Hank Ellison will be conducted at 2:00 o’clock Monday, June 25, 2012 at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Jerry Moretz and Reverend Eric Proffitt. Burial will follow in the Potter – Main Cemetery, in Todd, NC.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 25, 2012 from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the service at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.

At other times the family may be visited at the home of Tempie & Howard Woodring, 210 Howard Woodring Family Road, Boone, NC 28607.

Mr. Charles A. Warren, D. June 19, 2012
Mr. Charles Albert Warren, age 67, of Newton and a former resident of Watauga County passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 19, 2012 at Catawba Memorial Hospital… Born June 28, 1944 in Watauga County he was a son of the late Joe Victor and Floy Mae Trivette Warren.

He is survived by one sister; Helen Warren of Boone, two brothers; David Warren and wife Shelby of Boone and Roy Warren and wife Helen of Sugar Grove, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Charlie Lee Warren.

Memorial services for Mr. Charles Albert Warren will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Antioch Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Wilson and Rev. Ray Greene. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 o’clock at Antioch Baptist Church. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Bennie Trivette, 211 Honey Dew Lane, Banner Elk, NC 28604.
