Randall Phillips, D. January 2, 2013
Randell Lee ‘Cotton’ Phillips, 67, of Dogwood Circle, Jefferson, died Wednesday. January 2, 2013, at his home. Born November 4, 1945 in Ashe County, he was a son of Grady Randall and Mary Lee Church Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a member of Gap Creek Baptist Church. Before returning to Ashe County, he and his wife owned and operated Family Care Homes in Asheville.
‘Cotton’ enjoyed his outdoors activities and was especially fond of assembling model cars with his daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Gamble Phillips; daughter, Jackie Farrington and husband, Craig, of Fleetwood; three grandchildren, Boyd Greene of Fleetwood, Danielle Carlton of Deep Gap, and Ashley Greene of Glendale Springs. Four great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Randall and Mary Lee Church Phillips.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 5,2012 at 11 AM at the Gap Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Fleetwood, officiated by Mr. Alton Phillips. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 6:30 PM at Austin & Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Gap Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Billy Moretz, PO Box 575, Deep Gap, NC 28618.

Adam D. Galleher, age 25, of Dewitt Barnett Road, Valle Crucis, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at his home.
Adam is survived by his father and mother, Mike and Debbie Galleher of Valle Crucis; one sister, Ashley Galleher of Truckee, California; one brother, Matt Galleher of Blowing Rock; his paternal grandparents, Davis and Dorothy Galleher of Haywood, California; his maternal grandmother, Madge Drumm of Valle Crucis; his aunts and uncles, Judy and Ken Mullen of West Jefferson, and Mike and Sandy Drumm of Pleasanton, California; four cousins, Dan Mullen of Knoxville, Tennessee, Tami McIntosh of Des Moines, Iowa, Ryan Drumm and Katelyn Drumm, both of Pleasanton, California, and his God Parents, David and Barbara Miller of Union City, California.

Shelby O. Warren, D. Dec. 26, 2012
Louise E. ‘Shelby’ Oxentine Warren, age 71, of Highway 105 By-Pass, Boone, died Wednesday evening, December 26, 2012 at her home. Born April 28, 1941 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Stewart and Callie Pitts Oxentine. Mrs. Warren was a member of Willow Valley Baptist Church for the past thirty years. She retired as a certified nursing assistant from the ASU Infirmary.
Shelby was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her husband of 53 years, Dave Warren; two sons, David Warren and wife, Julie of Boone, and Wayne Warren of Zionville; two daughters, Brenda Cornell and husband, Tommy, of Vilas, and Sandra Warren of Morganton. Six grandchildren, Blaine and Alisha Cornell, Dwayne Warren, and Caleb, Zack and Jonathan Young; four step-grandchildren, Lindsay, Jordan, Tyler and Bailey Messenkopf; three sisters-in-law, Jeanette Oxentine Barker of Waco, NC, Carol Oxentine of Zionville, and Helen Warren of Boone; and brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Helen Warren of Sugar Grove. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Stewart ‘Bug’ Oxentine and Michael ‘Mike’ Oxentine; and one sister, Harriett Oxentine.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2012, at 2PM at Willow Valley Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Ray Greene and Rev. Derek Wilson. Burial will follow in the Willow Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Austin & Barnes.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Willow Valley Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Brandon Greer, 436 Clark Swift Rd., Vilas, NC 28692.
