Judy Trivette Miller

Judy Trivette Miller, D. Aug. 10, 2012
Mrs. Judy Trivette Miller, age 59, of 220 Elk Knob Drive, Boone, a daughter and a gift given by the Lord to Ray and Ossie Proffitt Trivette, was born October 1, 1952, in Watauga county, (along with twin sister, June), died peacefully Friday morning, August 10, 2012, at Watauga Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

The Heavens rejoiced as Judy went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was comforted and enriched with love, throughout her illness, by both her immediate family and her church family as well.

Judy held various jobs throughout her life, but was employed, for the last 15 years, by Appalachian State University in the Building Services Department.

Everyone who was fortunate and blessed to know Judy was touched by her love and kindness. She was devoted to her church and her church family, and she treasured her relationship with each one of them. Judy attended church, many times, during her illness when she wasn’t feeling strong enough, but she wanted to be surrounded by the love of her church family.

Judy loved to travel the world. She was blessed to make two trips to the Holy Land. In 1988, she stood at the garden tomb and was baptized in the Jordan River. She often spoke of the memories of those trips and the special blessings she received from standing on that Holy Ground.

“Aunt Judy” was special to all the nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, but was a loving “second mother” to nephew, Greg Miller, who was always close by for all her special occasions throughout her life and throughout her tiring battle with cancer.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Roy Miller of the home; seven sisters, Evelyn Hicks, Doris Greer and husband Johnny, Barbara Ashley and husband Buddy, Marilyn Watson and husband Scotty, Juanita Miller and husband Gary, all of Boone, Eleen Hodges of Morganton, and June Weaver and husband Joel of Jefferson; two brothers, Grayson Trivette and wife Phyllis of Boone, and L.C. Trivette of Hickory; her mother-in-law, Margaret Winebarger Miller of Boone; four sisters-in-law, Edith Miller, Christine Cole, Jeanette Huff and husband Gerald, and Jane Holaday and husband Richard, all of Boone; one brother-in-law, Ray Miller and wife Deloris of Boone; a special nephew, Greg Miller and his significant other, Gina Howell of Boone, and her very special church family at Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Buddy Trivette.

Funeral services for Mrs. Judy Trivette Miller will be conducted Sunday afternoon, August 12, 2012, at 3:30 PM, at Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 2:00 until 3:30 PM. Officiating will be Reverend Delmar James, Reverend Eric Proffitt, and Reverend Jerry Moretz. Entombment will follow, at a later date, in the family mausoleum at Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, from 2:00 until 3:30 PM, at the church, prior to the service.

Due to her earthly final resting place being a private family mausoleum, located at Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, the family respectfully requests no flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to the Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Jeanette Huff, 279 Henry Winebarger Road, Boone, North Carolina, 28607.
