Linda Wilson Pope, D. April 3, 2012
Linda Wilson Pope, age 49, of 1241 Odes Wilson Road, Zionville, died Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012, at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Pope was born May 12, 1962 in Watauga County, a daughter of Harold Pope and the late Betty Wagner Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of Bibleway Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Junior Pope of the home; one son, Mason Pope of Zionville; two step-sons, Eddie Pope of Boone, and Roger Pope of Deep Gap; two brothers, Jim Wilson of Fleetwood and Mike Wilson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and one sister, Patricia Harless of Wilkesboro.
Funeral services for Linda Wilson Pope will be conducted Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2012, at 2:00 o’clock, at Bibleway Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Michael Greene. Burial will follow in the Reece Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Service.

Doris Van Schaik Kershaw, D. March 29, 2012
Doris Van Schaik Kershaw, age 84, of 287 Deerfield Road, Boone, died Thursday morning, March 29, 2012, at Deerfield Assisted Living.
Mrs. Kershaw was born July 19, 1927 in Lodi, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Marinus and Cornelia Troast Van Schaik. She was a 1947 graduate of Hackensack School of Nursing, and was a Registered Nurse Supervisor, for 17 years, at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Banner Elk. She retired from nursing in 1992. Known for her professional nursing manner, she had a quick wit with a good-natured laugh. Mrs. Kershaw was a resident of Deerfield Assisted Living where she was loved and adored by the staff.
Mrs. Kershaw is survived by three daughters, Sandy Hebert ofScottsdale,Arizona, Nancy Ann Kershaw of Boone, and Janice Robinson of Blowing Rock, and one brother, Harold Van Schaik of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Doris Van Schaik Kershaw will be announced at a later date.

Everett L. Tester, D. March 29, 2012
Mr. Everett L. Tester, age 71, of 159 Albert Tester Drive, Sugar Grove, died Friday morning, March 29, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Tester was born December 26, 1940 inWataugaCounty, a son of the late Preacher Albert Tester and Floy Harmon Tester. He was a retired, self-employed carpenter, and a member of Green Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Tester is survived by his wife, Jewell Owenby Tester of the home; two sons, Preacher Donnie Tester and wife Lisa, and Wayne Tester and wife Melanie, all of Sugar Grove; five grandsons, Josh Tester of Sugar Grove, David Tester and Allen Tester, both of Montain City, Andrew Tester and Benjamin Tester, both of Sugar Grove; one granddaughter, Lacy Tester of Mountain City, and two brothers, Bill Tester and wife Geneva of Sugar Grove, and Jerry Tester and wife Barbara of Boone. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Tester.
Funeral services for Mr. Everett L. Tester will be conducted Sunday afternoon, April 1, 2012, at 2:00 o’clock, at Green Valley Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Pastor Eric Cornett and Preacher Greg Thomspson. Burial will follow in Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock, at the church, prior to the service. At other times, friends may call at the Tester home,159 Albert Tester Drive, Sugar Grove.

Edna Parlier Gragg, D. March 27, 2012
Mrs. Edna Parlier Gragg, age 95, of Milton Gragg Road, Boone, died Tuesday morning, March 27, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Gragg was born November 7, 1916 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Clifford M. Parlier and Pearl Brown Parlier. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Gragg was a Sunday School teacher for 70+ years and a member ofMount VernonBaptistChurch.
Mrs. Gragg is survived by three sons, John L. Gragg and wife Brenda, Ray Gragg and wife Debbie, and Gary W. Gragg and wife Donna, all of Boone; one daughter, Lila P. Lowe and husband Jim of Greensboro; a daughter-in-law, Dot Gragg of Boone, and thirteen grandchildren, Cathy Holman and husband Tim, Judy Davis, Donna Moffitt and husband Tim, Carol Holmes and husband Stephen, Michelle Hollars and husband Eric, Paula Ferguson and husband Matt, Jimmy Gragg and wife Tina, Junior Gragg and wife Kristi, Chris Gragg, Mitchell Gragg and wife Tammy, Steven Gragg and wife Jacanna, Eric Glenn and wife Margaret, and Michelle Underwood and husband Carl. She is also survived by twenty-four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Milton Gragg; one son, Paul Gragg; one sister, Ruth Poe; five brothers, Dallas, William, and Hade Parlier, and two infant brothers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Parlier Gragg will be conducted Friday morning, March 30, 2012, at 11:00 o’clock, atMount VernonBaptistChurch. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 10:00 until 11:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Bud Russell. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
