Bobby Lee Aldridge

Bobby Lee “Happy Feet” Aldridge, D. Sept. 4, 2012.
Bobby Lee “Happy Feet” Aldridge, age 82, of Crossnore danced his way into Glory on the morning of September 4, 2012 at his residence.

He was born October 4, 1929 in McDowell County, a son of the late Garfield and Maggie Vance Aldridge.

Bobby was a member of Crossnore Baptist Church and was the owner of A & A Cleaning.

He enjoyed buck dancing and listening to bluegrass music.

Along with his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ann Dearmin Aldridge.

A man who loved is kinfolk and family, Bobby has left to cherish his memory his: daughters, Mitzi Moody and husband Phil of Spruce Pine, Rebecca Harpold and husband Kermit of Crossnore; grandchildren, Luke Moody and wife Becky of Bakersville, Frankie Moody Gragg and husband Matthew of Lenoir, Keeli Harpold Fawcett and husband Jonathan of Foscoe, Heather Harpold Vettese and husband Jeff of Broken Arrow, OK, Summer Harpold of Greensboro; great grandchildren, Magi Vettese, Aly Vettese, Abigail Jean Moody, Dillon Luke Moody, Anneli Grace Fawcett.

Funeral services for Bobby Lee “Happy Feet” Aldridge will be conducted on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 8:00 pm at the Crossnore Baptist Church with Mr. Phil Moody and Mr. Kermit Harpold officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the service hour. Family, pallbearers and friends are asked to meet at Crossnore Baptist Church on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to Crossnore Baptist Church Cemetery for interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Destiny Church, Inc. at PO Box 233 Crossnore, NC 28616 or to Spruce Pine Christian Church at PO Box 1306 Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

Kenneth P. Hanson

Kenneth P. Hanson, D. Sept. 2, 2012
Kenneth P. Hanson, age 86, of Roan Mountain passed away on September 2, 2012 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

A native of Virginia, Minnesota, he was born July 28, 1926 a son of the late Harry and Arbor Tower Hanson.

He was a US Navy Veteran having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hanson was a retired Electrical Engineer with Allis Chalmers Generator Division.

Along with his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by two brothers.

Kenneth has left to cherish his memory his: wife, Ruth Potter Hanson; several dozen nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Kenneth P. Hanson will be conducted on Wednesday, September 5, at 11:00 a.m. in the Grandfather Chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Interment with military graveside rites will be follow in the Big Meadows Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The family respectfully requests that any food be taken to the Roan Mountain Church of Christ Fellowship Hall on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm. 

Rev. Brown Howell

Rev. Brown Howell, D. Aug. 31, 2012
Rev. Brown Howell, age 76, of Pineola entered into the Kingdom of his Heavenly Father on August 31, 2012 at his residence.

A native of Mitchell County, he was born December 9, 1935 a son of the late Graham and Eula Robertson Howell. He attended the Fruitland Bible Institute and was a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.

Rev. Howell was a “good and faithful servant”, having served as Pastor to Henson Creek Baptist Church, Eastwood Baptist Church in Kannapolis, Fall Creek Baptist Church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, Beech Valley Baptist Church, Blevins Creek Baptist Church, and Buck Mountain Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, Brown was preceded in death by his: sisters, Estelle Howell, Mary Buchanan, Erah Howell, Vaughtie Bennett; brothers, Clyde Robertson, Richard Howell and Luther Howell.

Brown has left to cherish his memory his loving wife and best friend of over 51 years, Wanda Andrews Howell; brothers, Max Howell, and his wife, Mary, of Huntersville, NC, Gene Howell, and his wife, Becky, of Shell Creek, TN; a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 3 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Pineola Cemetery.

Martin “Bob” Erickson, D. Aug. 25, 2012
Bob Erickson was born on January 31, 1933, and passed away on August 25, 2012.
