Andrew Rupard, D. Dec. 12, 2012
Andrew L. Rupard, 84, of Pigeon Roost Rd., Banner Elk, passed away, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Banner Elk.

A native of Watauga County, he was born May 21, 1928, a son of the late Carter Preston Rupard and the late Gertrude Shook Rupard. He worked as a Dry Wall Installer and was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church. Andy loved horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away on November 30, 2012; his brothers, Willie, Gaither, Jimmy, Bob, Grady, and Dean Rupard; sisters, Faye Storie and Nell Preswood.

He leaves behind his son, Mark Rupard of Charlotte; step children, Vickie Turbyfill of Elk Park, Cindy Bare, and her companion, Eddie Ingram, of Linville Falls, Skipper Blair, and his wife, Melissa, of Banner Elk; brothers, Jerry Rupard, and his wife, Ollie, of Banner Elk, Billy Rupard, and his wife, Debbie, of Banner Elk; Sister, Shirley Brown of Morganton; eight step grandchildren; and nine step great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Andrew Rupard will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. from the Grandfather Chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Shook officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home Thursday evening.

Family, friends, and pallbearers will gather at the funeral home on Friday morning at 10:00 am to go in procession to the White Rock Cemetery for burial.

Josie Geneva Puckett Shell, D. Dec. 6, 2012
Josie Geneva Puckett Shell, age 78, of Elk Park passed away on December 6, 2012 at Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Avery County, she was born May 30, 1934 a daughter of the late Elijah and Rose Moody Puckett.

She was a homemaker and a member of Heaton Christian Church.

Along with her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her: husband, Homer P. Shell, Sr.; brothers, George Moody, Bill Puckett; sisters, Lear Puckett, Fannie Guinn, Maxine Puckett.

Josie has left to cherish her memory her: daughters, Connie Hoilman and husband Mike of Johnson City, TN, Sheri Cornett and husband Larry of Crossnore, NC, Melissa Baird and husband Randy of Elk Park, NC; sons, Ralph Puckett of the home, Homer James “Jamie” Shell of Newland; step sons, Homer P. Shell, Jr. and wife Lillian of Las Vegas, NV, Eddie Ray Shell and wife Cathy of Elk Park, NC; grandchildren, Christina Pearrell, Amy Hoilman, Brandon Baird, Aaron Baird, Estes Shell, Gabe Shell, Alina Shell, James Shell; great grandchildren, Jennifer Hensley, Steven Hensley; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Josie Geneva Shell will be conducted on Saturday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m. at the Heaton Christian Church with Mr. Brent Nidiffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Heaton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.
