David Fields McNeill, D. Sept. 14, 2012
Mr. David Fields McNeill age 62, of Crumpler, NC died on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.
Mr. McNeill was born on January 11, 1950 in Ashe County, NC to Doughton and Margaret Marsh McNeill. Mr. McNeill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cline McNeill. Mr. McNeill retired as a road foreman from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting and being outside until he became disabled.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. David Lyalls. Burial will follow in Pine Swamp Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Mr. McNeill is survived by: Daughter, Shannon Wallace of Warrensville, NC, Brother, Robert McNeill of Leesville, SC, Five Sisters, Charlotte Plummer of Cornelius, NC, Shelba Elliott of West Jefferson, Billie McNeill of Cornelius, NC, Mary Johnston of Greenville, SC, Nancy Brittain of Hickory, NC. Two Grandchildren, Dakota Wallace, Laken Wallace and one special little girl, Lexie. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Hazel Greer, D. Sept. 13, 2012
Mrs. Hazel Church Greer, age 99, of Todd passed away Thursday morning, September 13, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Greer was born in Ashe County to the late Ira Walter and Zora Belle Gentry Church. Hazel’s life was devoted to her family and caring for them. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Herman” Greer of 74 years of marriage; three sons, J. Harold Greer, Donald Greer and Warren Greer; a daughter, Virginia Reid; three brothers, John Church, Franklin Church and Thea Church and a grandson, Kenny Greer
She is survived by four sons, Charles Greer, of Todd, Dale Greer, of Baltimore, MD, Joe Greer, of Edgewood, MD and Jerry Greer and wife, Valerie, of Todd; a daughter, Diane Roark and husband, Gary, of Jefferson; two brothers , Clyde Church, of Kannapolis, NC and Paul Church, of Forest Hill, MD; four sisters, Paris Miller, of Bel Aire, MD, Faye Roark, of Newark, DE, Ann Adams, of Huntsville, AL and Doris Stevens, of Todd; fourteen grandchildren, Wallace Greer and wife, Alice, Angela Grubb and husband, Ronnie, Keith Reid and wife, Sherry, David Reid, Ronnie Greer, Robin Wright and husband, James, Larry Greer and wife, Olga, Gary Greer, Shari Greer, Stacy Greer, Donna Greer, Adrian Greer and wife, Kristen and Amy Tilley and husband, Paul; fifteen great-grandchildren, Emiline Greer, Isaac Greer, Eli Greer, Rick Surber, Jr., Drew Surber, Kayla Reid, Ashia Reid, Tasha Baker, Daniel Greer, Nicholas Greer, Jennifer Greer, Joshua Greer, Jude Greer, Vaughn Greer and Ashley Tilley; seven great great-grandchildren; two daughter-in-laws, Doris Gentry Greer, of Baltimore, MD and Marie Greer, of Maryland; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Charles Edward Hamm, D. Sept. 11, 2012
Mr. Charles Edward Hamm, better known as “Eddie”, age 52, of Dover, DE formerly of Ashe County died on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Mr. Hamm was born on September 27, 1959 in Elkton, MD to Edward and Ella Greer Ham. Mr. Hamm was preceded in death by his father Edward Ham. Mr. Hamm was always friendly, he loved life and enjoyed being around people. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Jim Francis and Rev. Doug Hardin. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be meeting at the home of Wayne and Lisa Barker at 2013 Deep Ford Road in Lansing following the graveside service.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Hamm is survived by: his daughter – Brandi Becker of Pennsylvania; his granddaughter, Sadie Becker; his mother – Ella Mae Ham of Jefferson; one brother – Randy Ham of Winston-Salem; four sisters – Teresa Lee Wingler and Patricia Peters, both of Wilkesboro, Karen Marie Ham of Jefferson, and Lisa Barker of Lansing; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
