Gary Lee Lilly, age 53, of Jefferson passed away Tuesday afternoon at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Gladie Rae Adams, D. Dec. 18, 2012
Gladie Rae Langston Adams, age 93, of Margate Health and Rehab Center passed away Tuesday night, December 18, 2012.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Adams was born in Duplin County, NC on October 23, 1919 to the late Walter Raleigh Langston and Mutie Smith.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Harold Adams; two sisters; Thelma Adams Wade and Bessie L. Rouse; and one brother; A.J. Langston.
Mrs. Adams is survived by one daughter; Jewel Ann Adams Best and husband James of Laurel Springs; two grandchildren; Kevin Best of Clayton, NC and Emily Jill Philippe-Franz of Lowville, NY; and three great-grandchildren; Joshua Philippe, Jordan Gongalch and husband Jon, and Kyle Best.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church Building Fund, 1670 Mount Jefferson Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
Dosha Blevins Poe Payne, D. Dec. 18, 2012
Mrs. Dosha Blevins Poe Payne, age 98, of Lansing died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson.
Mrs. Payne was born on September 2, 1914 in Grayson County, VA to the late Elick and Rose Reedy Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Bill Poe, seven brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Payne retired as a nurses aide and after retirement worked at Shatley Springs Restaurant as a biscuit maker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Helton Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Billy Joe Blevins. Burial will follow in the Walls Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Helton Valley Baptist Church.
Mrs. Payne is survived by: Son, Roger Poe and wife Judy of Lansing; Son, Vance Poe and wife Ethel of Whitetop, VA; Daughter, Wilma Frazier of Alabama; Daughter, Betty Williams of Mouth Of Wilson, VA; Brother, Dentis Blevins of Whitetop, VA; also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Miss. Jennifer “Jenny” Marie Miller age 44, of West Jefferson, NC died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her home.Miss. Miller was born on November 11, 1968 to Arilin David and Cynthia Miller.

Miller is survived by: two daughters, Cassie Maria Miller Korie Nicole Kerley both of West Jefferson, father and step-mother, Arilin David Miller and wife Sharon of Lansing, mother, Cynthia Miller of West Jefferson, one sister, Lisa Michelle Miller of West Jefferson, three brothers, David Miller Jr. of West Jefferson, Colby Miller of Lansing, Dennis Miller of West Jefferson, special friend, Richard Wolf, two nephews,Crason Miller, Austin McCoy, three nieces, Ala Miller, Emily Miller, Kaitlyn McCoy also survive.

David Neil Church, D. Dec. 17, 2012
Mr. David Neil Church, age 47, of Fleetwood passed away Monday night at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Proffit and Rev. Paul Coffey officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Lawn Mausoleum in Boone.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Thursday, two hours prior to the funeral service at the church.
Neil was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland on Monday, February 22, 1965. He owned and operated Neil Church Construction. He was a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, where he enjoyed working with the youth program. Also in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley-Davidson.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Brian Church; two sisters, Melinda Fumich and Tammy Church.
Mr. Church is survived by his wife, Karen Phillips Church; his parents , Sammy & Shirley Church of Jefferson.

Mary Nell Miller Weaver, D. Dec. 17, 2012
Mrs. Mary Nell Miller Weaver, age 84, of West Jefferson passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday morning December 17, 2012 at her residence in West Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Smethport United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Wannemacher officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jefferson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Smethport United Methodist Church prior to the service.
Mary Nell Miller Weaver was born in Ashe County on June 26, 1928 to the late George Attison and Mae Calloway Miller. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Miller, Harry Lee Miller; two sisters, Georgia Bryant, Hazel Hodges.
Mary Nell devoted her life to making a loving and nurturing home for her husband of 63 years, Tom and their two sons. She succeeded wonderfully, especially so with the challenges in relocating her family accommodating the assignments of her husband’s military career.
All who knew her loved her bright smile, fun-loving sense of humor and her ceaseless caring and generosity for those in need.
Mary Nell stubbornly resisted the ravages of Parkinsons for the last 10 years of her life, with the loving and capable assistance of her son Joel, his wife June and a host of dedicated caregivers and relatives.
A devout Christian all her life, she has joined her beloved father and mother and
those siblings who passed before her.
Friends and family are asked not to mourn her passing but to celebrate the life well lived.
Mrs. Weaver is survived by her husband, John Thomas “Tom” Weaver of West Jefferson; two sons, Michael Weaver and wife Cathy of Catawba, Joel Weaver and wife June of Jefferson; a brother Jim Miller and wife Aimee of West Jefferson; three sisters, Sallie Scott of West Jefferson, Silver Abernathy of Drexel, NC, Betty Monroe and husband Warren of Upper Black Eddie, PA; two grandchildren, Zack Weaver, Amy Weaver; a step grandchild, Jill Gambill, and two step-great grandchildren, Hope Gambill and Zoe Gambill. Ina Annette “Annie” Greer Osborne age 55, of Jefferson, NC died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Osborne was born on August 16, 1957 in Ashe County, NC to Wayne Edgar and Wretha Lovelace Greer. Mrs. Osborne was preceded in death by her father and brother, Paul Glenn Greer. Mrs. Osborne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Boone, NC. She was always there to help other people and followed the Golden Rule.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Walls Cemetery in Whitetop, VA.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Osborne is survived by: her mother, Wretha Lovelace Greer, four daughters, Wretha-Ellen Marie Coe of West Jefferson, Amanda Coe Anderson and husband Jay of Jefferson, Heather Roberts Ham and husband Neal of Lansing, Carrie Osborne Armstrong and husband Daniel of Jefferson, one son, Michael Floyd Ray Himelright of Virginia, two sisters, Penny Greer Morgan, Rita Greer Curcio both of West Jefferson, also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.

Steven Eugene Lee, age 40 of Crumpler passed away Thursday morning, December 13, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Tim Roten and Elder Kenneth Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Orin Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Lee was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Sunday, February 13, 1972 to Ronnie and Linda Margaret Osborne Lee. He worked in Drywall Construction. He enjoyed drawing in his sparetime.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kassandra Sue Lee and his fiancée Kimberly Hart Hardin.
Mr. Lee is survived by a son, Phillip Tracy Lee, of Crumpler; a daughter, Kimberly Nicole Lee, of Crumpler; his parents, Ronnie and Linda Lee, of Crumpler; a grandson, Eli Taylor also survives.

Opal Blackburn Pruitt, D. Dec. 13, 2012
Mrs. Opal Blackburn Pruitt age 84, of Lansing, NC died on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Pruitt was born on September 28, 1930 in Ashe County to Harrison Andrew and Katy Welch Blackburn. Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glemus “Tony” Pruitt, son, James Edward Barker and brother, Earl Blackburn.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jim Greer, Dennis Poe & Rev. Tom Stuart. Mrs. Pruitt will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Barker Eller McNeill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday at Badger Funeral Home.
