Guy Calvin Duvall

Guy Calvin Duvall, D. Aug. 28, 2012
Mr. Guy Calvin Duvall age 90, of Jefferson, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Mr. Duvall was born on May 27, 1922 in Rugby, VA to Marvin Wayne and Mary Walls Duvall. Mr. Duvall was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Idella Sturgill Duvall, son, Richard Darrell Duvall and two sisters. Mr. Duvall retired from Sprague Electric. He served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Duvall was an active church member and deacon at Sturgills Baptist Church in Helton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Sturgills Baptist Church by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Haw Orchard Cemetery with military rites.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Sturgills Baptist Church.

Mr. Duvall is survived by: his wife, Louise Rye Duvall, two daughters, Linda Little and husband Jerry and Rita Richardson and husband Rick all of Warrensville, step-daughter, Brenda Gentry and husband Tommy of Charlotte, step-son, Rex Little and wife Becky of Lansing, two brothers, James Duvall of Maryland, Norman Duvall of Pennsylvania, one sister, Ruby DeBoard of Jefferson, NC also surviving are 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Michelle Eller Douglas, D. Aug. 26, 2012
Mrs. Michelle Eller Douglas, age 40, of Statesville, formerly of Ashe, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 in Statesville.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2012 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Cornejo and Rev. Randall Greene officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior. Burial will follow in the Mount Paran Chruch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Douglas was born in Watauga County on February 7, 1972 to Douglas Keith Eller and Kathy Ann Greene. She worked at Lowes Corporate Office in Mooresville. She was a graduate of Ashe Central High School in 1990. She was a loving and caring mother to her son.

She is survived by a son, Shawn Douglas of Statesville; Parents; Douglas Eller and Kathy Eller of West Jefferson; and one brother; Keith Eller of West Jefferson.

Claude Richard Bledsoe, D. Aug. 26, 2012
Mr. Claude Richard Bledsoe, age 88, of Todd passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Glenbridge Health & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 2:00pm at South Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior. Burial will follow in the Jones-Greer Cemetery with military rites.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 7-9pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Bledsoe was born in Ashe County on Saturday, June 14, 1924 to the late Boston Franklin and Eva Greer Bledsoe. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He is preceded in death by two brothers; Jack and Darryl Bledsoe.

He is survived by his wife; Myrtle Shumate Bledsoe; one son; Eddie Bledsoe and wife Marlene of Yadkinville; four daughters; Brenda Wagner of Todd, Helen Cobb of Todd, Carol Thompson of Booneville, and Jeanette Walls of Sparta; four brothers; Chet Bledsoe and wife Helen of Mocksville, Bud Bledsoe and wife Betty of Mocksville, Harold Bledsoe and wife Lucille of Mocksville, and Ted Bledsoe and wife Jeryl of Mocksville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

George Waddell

George Waddell, D. Aug. 23, 2012
Mr. William George Waddell age 86, of Lansing, died on Thursday, August 23, 2012 in Helton. Mr. Waddell was born on August 23, 1926 in Grayson County, VA to Charlie Houston and Rosa Walton Waddell. Mr. Waddell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mattie Weaver Waddell and brothers and sisters, Vestie Testerman, Hattie Emmerson, Ray Waddell, Jincy Testerman, Kate Blevins, Pauline Walker and Grace Sheetz.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Helton United Methodist Church by Rev. Peter Parish, Rev. Tommy McClure and Rev. Casey McKenna. Burial will follow in Helton Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Badger Funeral Home.

Mr. Waddell is survived by: one daughter, Betty Parsons and husband Tim of Lansing, one sister, Kay Hart of PA, one grandson, Isaac Parsons and wife Heather of Lansing, one great granddaughter, Caroline Parsons, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Jeannie Colvard McNeill, D. Aug. 23, 2012
Mrs. Jeannie Colvard McNeill age 67, of Crumpler, died on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Mrs. McNeill was born on April 16, 1945 in Ashe County, NC to the late Thomas Charlie and Hazel McMillan Colvard. Mrs. McNeill was the Ashe Baptist Association Clerk for 24 years. She worked for as a Para legal secretary for Vannoy and Reeves Law Firm for 42 years.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Scottsville Baptist Church, 165 Old County Line Road, Laurel Springs, NC 28644. Officiating will be Rev. Reeves Jones and Rev. Lawrence Goodman. Burial will follow in Senter Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Scottsville Baptist Church.

Mrs. McNeill is survived by: Husband, Fred McNeill of Crumpler, NC, two sons, Todd McNeill and wife Maggie of Grassy Creek, Lane McNeill and wife Jennifer of Purlear, one brother, Tommy Colvard and wife Martha of Jefferson, three grandsons, Henry McNeill, Smith McNeill, Jack McNeill, one granddaughter, Mary McNeill also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mullis-Adams was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Carrie Mullis, Namon and Grace Bryant, sister, Amy Perry, brother in-law, James Perry, nephew, Brandon Perry, uncle, Wayne Mullis, aunt, Linda Mullis and cousin, Ina Ruth Mullis.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J. D. Walton and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Turner Cemetery.

Eula Dean Lawrence age 87, of West Jefferson, died on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson. Ms. Lawrence was born on May 15, 1925 in Ashe County, NC to Walter and Vergie Houck Lawrence. Ms. Lawrence was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Earl Lawrence. She enjoyed making canopy spreads for beds.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J. D. Walton. Burial will follow in Jones-Greer Cemetery.
