Mrs. Shirley Allene Cox Cooper, age 86, of Fleetwood, passed away Monday afternoon at Glenbridge Health & Rehab Center.
Funeral services are incomplete at this time. 

Mrs. Cooper is survived by: her husband I.S. “Buck” Cooper; 2 sons  Ronnie Cooper of Fleetwood; Donnie Cooper of Moravian Falls; 1 sister Willie Lou Denny of Jefferson; 1 grandchild; 1 great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Rottis Osborne

Rottis Joseph Osborne, D. April 8, 2012.

Rev. Rottis Joseph Osborne, age 79, of Crumpler, passed away Sunday night, April 8, 2012 at Segraves Nursing Care Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Elder Kenneth Clark, Rev. John Waltermyer, Rev. Eddie Lewis and Rev. Lundy Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 6-8pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Rev. Osborne was born inAsheCountyon Thursday, November 10, 1932 to the late Jim and Lelar Eastridge Osborne. He was ordained and served as a minister atRich Hill Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Osborne; four brothers, Elihue Osborne, Phem Osborne, Odell Osborne and Odis Osborne; two sisters, Jocie Mae Osborne and Juanita Patrick.

Rev. Osborne is survived by three daughters, Patty Faw, of West Jefferson, Linda Lee, of Crumpler and Pamela Lee, of Jefferson; a special nephew, Tommy Osborne, of Jefferson; two sisters, Lottie Calhoun, of Jefferson and Ruth Barker, of West Jefferson; seven grandchildren Steven Lee, Christopher Lee, David Lee, Jennifer Blevins, Amy Lee Josey Faw and Natasha Faw; ten great-grandchildren Tracy Lee, Nikki Lee, Cory Rash, Heather Blevins, Cody Blevins, Kasey Lee, Tesla Lee, Myra Lee, Corbin Roten and Alex Faw; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Ruby Whitehouse

Ruby Peeler Whitehouse, D. April 4, 2012.

Mrs. Ruby Peeler Whitehouse age 89, of West Jefferson, NC died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Whitehouse was born on November 2, 1922 in Duval County, Florida to Glover and Gertrude Geiger Peeler. Mrs. Whitehouse was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Whitehouse, daughter, Sandra White and brother, Leon Peeler. Mrs. Whitehouse had a great love of nature and all creation.

Memorial services will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel  by Rev. Owen Peeler.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Ronald Cox

Clayton Cox, D. April 3, 2012

Ronald Clayton Cox, 92, formerly of Rocks and Dundalk, MD, died inAsheMemorialHospital,Jefferson,NC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Houser Cox in 1966 and will be laid to rest next to her inBelAirMemorialGardens, Bel Air, MD.

Born in Grassy Creek, NC, he was the second of eight sons of Clay Greer Cox and Nellie Phipps Cox. He is survived by his two children, Shirley Cox Pilcher and husband, Robert B. Pilcher of Charleston, SC and his son Ronald C. Cox, Jr. and wife, Sharon L. Cox of Crumpler, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Galin J. Spicer, Galphin L. Jackson, Jr. Julie R. Schultz, Lindsay J. Ritter, Zachary C. Cox, Colleen M. Hoffmeister and nine great-grandchildren.

Four brothers also survive, Herbert B. Raymond D. Carroll L. and William B. Cox, all of Harford County, MD. He was predeceased by brothers, Leonard F. John R. and Robert S. Cox.

Raised on a farm in Harford County,MD he graduated from Highland High School in 1938 and played on the county championship/Maryland state runner-up basketball team. He spent his 38 working years starting in WWII as a shipyard welder, retiring in 1977 to Jefferson, NC with his second wife Rose K. Cox also predeceased. As a retiree, he pursued his passions for gardening, hunting and fishing for thirty wonderful years. His family was also a source of great joy and pride and he was greatly loved by them all.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00am at Evans Funeral Home Chapel, Forest Hill, MD. Memorials may be made to Ashe Presbyterian Church, 220 Lynch Colvard Lane, Jefferson, NC28640where he came to grace or the charity of your choice. Our beloved father need not be idealized in death beyond what he was in life, but should be remembered as a good and decent man who always tried to do the right thing, a good and faithful soldier and an ever steady presence in our life.

Mrs. Terri Lee Ray Williams, age 55, of Jefferson, NC died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at theWake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Williams was born on July 1, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Leroy DeFellio and Margaret Ray.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 4:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Clarence Eugene Stuart, D. April 3, 2012.

Mr. Clarence Eugene Stuart age 60, of Warrensville, NC died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his sister’s home. Mr. Stuart was born March 16, 1952 in Ashe County, to the late Rufus and Gertie Ham Stuart.  Clarence loved to sing, fish and attend church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church by Rev. Russell Sheets, Rev. Dean  Shepherd, Rev. Bill Miller & Rev. Charles Worley. Burial will follow in Dixon-Testerman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, April 6, 2012 at Badger Funeral Home.

Mr. Stuart is survived by:

2 sisters: Louise Denny of Warrensville & Mary Blalock of Newton
