A 2013 tour of “The Masters of Bluegrass” featured Jerry McCoury on bass and vocals. Bobby Hicks, a self-taught fiddle player from the age of 9, has earned three Gold Records and one Platinum. He is also a 10-time Grammy Award winner. Hicks was recently awarded the 2014 North Carolina Heritage Award. Terry Baucom, acclaimed for his driving banjo style, helped form some of the most ground-breaking bands in bluegrass music. Terry was winner of the 2013 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year. All three have performed with some of Bluegrass’s greats like Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas, Del McCoury, Don Reno, Doyle Lawson and more.

Ola Belle Reed (1916-2002), a legendary country singer, was a strong force for good and touched countless lives. She was an acclaimed songwriter and musician, recognized by the Smithsonian, the National Endowment of the Arts and many additional organizations. Such celebrated artists as Marty Stuart, Del McCoury and Tim O’Brien have recorded her signature song, High on A Mountain.

Ashe County native Cindy Baucom will once again serve as emcee for the festival. Cindy’s enthusiasm for the festival is rooted in her love of mountain music, Ashe County and an early association with Ola Belle Reed. Her nationally syndicated radio show, “Knee-Deep in Bluegrass”, is broadcast in almost 100 markets each week.

There will also be a Youth Jam happening for the young pickers on Saturday beginning 1pm at the Lansing Fire Department. The up and coming youth band Ash Breeze and other veteran musicians will be there playing along.

The festival is a community-based event and fundraiser sponsored by the Greater Lansing Area Development Committee (GLAD), a 501(c)3 organization and the Lansing Volunteer Fire Department, committed to the revitalization of Lansing, the birthplace of Ola Belle Reed.

Two day tickets cost $15. Friday tickets cost $5 and Saturday tickets cost $15.
