March 29, 2012. Climber Will Gadd, hosted by Rock Dimensions Climbing Guides, Footsloggers and ASU’s Outdoor Programs, will conduct an ice climbing workshop at Footsloggers’ outdoor climbing tower in downtown Boone on Saturday March 31, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Gadd will also be presenting a film in which he is featured, Reel Rock: Ice Revolution, as part of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Tickets to the film festival sold out in the first week of March, according to both Farthing Auditorium and Footsloggers.
Outdoor Programs has provided foam ice climbing panels for and opportunity to climb “ice” in the spring time. The panels were installed Friday, March 23. Gadd will be demonstrating ice climbing techniques as well as offering pointers to those who wish to participate. Ice climbing equipment demos will be available courtesy of Black Diamond. Everyone is welcome to watch and those with experience on ice are invited to climb the panels.
Rock Dimensions will operate regular hours on the climbing tower and is offering a special reduced rate for rock climbing on the tower all day.
Gadd is known as being one of the most versatile outdoor athletes in the world. He is an especially accomplished Ice Climber and mountaineer, winning World Cup and Winter X Games titles along with an astounding list of first ascents. He has also broken the world distance record in paragliding not once, but three times.
