Wordkeepers Features Writers Open Mic Reading Latest Works at the Ashe County Arts Council Oct. 20

Oct. 16, 2012. The next Wordkeepers event will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, from 4-6 p.m. at the Ashe County Arts Council in West Jefferson, located at 303 West School St. At 3 p.m., prior to the 4 p.m. readings, musicians Henry Doss and Scot Pope will play their original music at the Arts Center. Wordkeepers is free and open to the public.

Wordkeepers features writers reading their latest works in 5-minute open microphone time slots. Refreshments are provided. Writers interested in reading from their work should email Chris Arvidson at chris@chrisarvidson.com to secure their first-come, first-served spot on the bill and to receive guidelines for reading. Wordkeepers was created by local writers Chris Arvidson, Julie Townsend and Scot Pope who have also released a book this week “Mountain Memoirs: An Ashe County Anthology” which features many Wordkeepers regulars.
