Jan. 17, 2013. Heavy snowfall across the High Country has forced area schools to close tomorrow. The snow has tapered off at this point, but reports across the area vary from four inches to nearly a foot or more.

Both Watauga County Schools and Avery County Schools will be closed tomorrow for both students and faculty.

Classes held before 10 a.m. at Appalachian State University have been canceled. The university will announce a decision on classes that start after 10 a.m. at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

The Watauga campus of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute has not reported a closing for tomorrow but did cancel evening classes for Jan. 17.

Two Rivers Community School, a tuition-free public charter school in Boone, will also be closed on Friday.

The Chetola Resort/Blowing Rock Art and History Museum Snow Day Camp will operate tomorrow. To sign children up, call 828-295-5535 and leave a message. The camp begins at 9 a.m. at BRAHM and ends at 5:30 p.m. at Chetola.
