This past Saturday, June 17, the Watauga Farmers’ Market was in full swing from 8 a.m. until noon. The Farmers’ Market, which lasts from May until October at Horn in the West has been filling up with vibrant, fresh vegetables every Saturday.

On the first and fifth Saturdays of the month, not only will there be fresh produce grown by local farmers and handmade crafts skillfully made by local community members, there will also be the Playhouse Kids Corner which will offer 2-3 fun, hands-on activities for toddlers and preschoolers. Along with this, there will be special programs planned which will be appropriate for kids ages 4 to 12.

At the Farmers’ Market this past Saturday, there were a variety of different produce offered for purchase, including carrots, squash, potatoes, kale, honey and so much more. Handmade crafts lined Horn in the West as people mulled about, perusing the array of vegetables, herbs, flowers and other produce.

Not only this, but there is always produce such as strawberries, onions, leeks, chicken, meats, coffee, eggs, tomatoes, all the aforementioned produce and everything else you could possibly imagine. Foods of all kinds are offered at the Farmers’ Market, neighboring booths that are hosts to unique crafts and items.

Music on Saturday was provided by Skillet Gap and Marshall Daniels, and this upcoming Saturday, Sound Traveler and Morrison Swift will be playing live music for the whole farmers’ market. Also, this Saturday, there will be the Kids Corner Mini-Market, through which children can bring fresh produce, artwork, handmade crafts and the like and sell these items to the general public.

Don’t miss out on the upcoming Farmers’ Market this Saturday and purchase the most cultivated and cared for produce around!
