May 4, 2012. On Thursday, May 3, the Watauga County Arts Council met in meeting that was closed to the media to discuss three scenarios for their future in the Jones house and beyond. At 10:45 p.m. last night, the following statement was released by executive director Cherry Johnson:
“The Watauga County Arts Council Board met tonight and discussed their future at length. They have asked their attorney and their Board President to communicate with the Town of Boone representatives. They would prefer to keep these communications confidential until an agreement can be reached. As soon as that occurs, we will immediately notify [the media] of the outcome and of the future plans of the Arts Council.”
