Walker Center Season Tickets Go On Sale July 23

July 18, 2012. Walker Center Season Tickets go on sale to the public beginning Monday, July 23, at noon. Individual show tickets will go on sale beginning August 13.

“Our 2012-2013 season lineup is one of the most exciting I’ve seen,” says Kathy Gray, director of Events and Hospitality at Wilkes Community College. “Whether you like country, big band, oldies or Broadway, we’ve got something for everyone. Who needs to travel to a larger city for world-class entertainment when the Walker Center offers it all right here in Wilkes County?”

The Walker Center’s 2012-2013 Season Show lineup includes:

“John Tesh Big Band Live!” on Friday, September 14, 2012. It will be a trip down memory lane for some and a creative discovery for others. John Tesh and his 12-piece band will explore the golden years of big band music from the 1920s through the 1950s. They will play hits like “I’ve Got the World on a String,” “L-O-V-E,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “In the Mood,” “Summer Wind” and more. This performance brings to life a remarkable time in American culture. This show is sponsored by Hampton Inn and visitwilkesboronc.com.

Crystal Gayle will dazzle the Walker Center audience on Friday, October 26, 2012, with some of her greatest hits like “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” “You’ve Been Talking in Your Sleep,” “When I Dream,” “Half the Way,” and “Just You and I,” which she originally recorded with Eddie Rabbitt. This performance is sponsored by InterFlex Group.

 Legendary country music band Restless Heart will present the Walker Center’s ever-popular holiday show on Friday, November 30, 2012. Restless Heart will combine songs of the season with their greatest hits to create a wonderful holiday evening to remember. With over 27 years of musical history to their credit, the five original members of Restless Heart continue to thrill audiences with their award-winning talent, showmanship and flawless harmonies on hits including “I’ll Still Be Loving You,” “Why Does It Have to be (Wrong or Right)” and “Bluest Eyes in Texas,” just to name a few. This show sponsored by Hardee’s. 

Take a nostalgic journey through the most popular movie musicals of the last fifty years with “Hooray for Hollywood” on Friday, February 8, 2013. Featuring a cast of 14 wonderful singers and dancers, a six-piece band live on stage, and over 300 costume changes, enjoy film clips of your favorite movies from “Singing in the Rain” and “The Glenn Miller Story” to “Grease,” “Dirty Dancing” and “Titanic.” “Hooray for Hollywood,” sponsored by Carolina West Wireless, sings and dances its way through over 30 songs including “Staying Alive,” “All that Jazz,” “Dancing Queen,” “Jailhouse Rock” and many more! Aaron Tippin, Sammy Kershaw and Joe Diffie are coming to town to rock the house with “Roots & Boots” on Friday, March 8, 2013. This show is a show filled with stories and songs by Tippin, Kershaw and Diffie. The trio gets back to the roots of their music, performing on stage together, acoustic versions of more than 40 top ten hits! “Roots & Boots” is sponsored by Carolina West Wireless.

The 2012-2013 season closes on Friday, May 17, 2013, with “Ricky Nelson Remembered.” This presentation is a unique multimedia entertainment event featuring the live music of Ricky Nelson’s hit songs, performed by Ricky’s own twin sons Matthew & Gunnar. The show includes never-before-seen big screen video footage of the Nelson family with interviews from celebrities influenced by Ricky Nelson. “Ricky Nelson Remembered” is sponsored by Wells Fargo.

“We are fortunate to have such a luxurious performing arts venue here on our campus at WCC.
