Sept. 10, 2012. The following upcoming events will be taking place at Grandfather Mountain State Park in the coming weeks. All events are open to the public and are free to attend.
Volunteer work day: Profile Trail
Saturday, Sept. 15
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Join a park ranger for a workday on the Profile Trail. Tasks include removing roots, moving rocks and performing routine trail maintenance. Wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather and bring water and snacks.
Grandfather Mountain State Park Family Day

Join state park rangers for a fun day of games and activities for kids and adults of all ages: bring your family and join the fun!
Twilight Hike
Saturday, Sept. 22
7:00 p.m.
Profile Trailhead
Join Ranger Luke Appling on a twilight hike on the Profile Trail. We will be back just after dark, so bring a flashlight or headlight. Wear appropriate trail shoes and dress for the weather (evenings are getting cool now). Ranger Appling is sure to locate salamanders for you to see and owls for you to hear.

Profile Trailhead
Designed to open your senses to the natural world around you. No artistic or writing skills required. Moderate hiking involved: wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, bring a snack and water.
