Third Annual Boone Heritage Festival Brings a Bit of Culture to Boone This Weekend on Oct. 12

Oct. 9, 2013. The Boone Heritage Festival will bring some culture to the town of Boone on Oct. 12. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Boone Heritage Festival will provide fun for the whole family with 18th Century living history demonstrations, craft vendors, storytelling, live music, children’s activities and much more. 

The festival will take place at Daniel Boone Park located at 591 Horn in the West Drive in Boone and the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum. Admission to the festival is completely free of charge. 

At the festival, there will be many hands-on activities available for all ages. Activities for this year’s festival include:

  • pumpkin carving
  • a mock architectural dig 
  • scarecrow building
  • cornhusk crafts
  • musical petting zoo
  • and much more!

There will also be plenty of live demonstrations to demonstrate the culture and heritage of the Appalachian area. Demonstrations at the festival this year include: 

  • leatherwork
  • flintlock rifle marksmanship
  • wool spinning and weaving
  • pewter molding 
  • tatting

There will be many different craft vendors attending the Boone Heritage Festival this year. You can find anything from alpaca wool to candles this year and have a chance to see that arts and crafts in the style of long ago. 

At the festival, you can find craftsmen selling jewelry, candles, soaps, wooden furniture, apple cider, cotton candy, kettle corn, leather items, pastries and so much more. There truly is something for everyone at this educational, cultural event.
