July 12, 2012. As Independence Day festivities wind down, our local festival season kicks off with MusicFest ‘n Sugar Grove on Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14, with such world-renown acts like the Kruger Brothers and The Carolina Chocolate Drops as well other more-local stellar acts.

(Also, check out the lineups and schedules for other festivals down the road like the first annual eclectic The Festival of Gnarnia on Beech Mountain and Music on the Mountaintop at Grandfather Campground on our festival’s page.)

The festival will pay tribute to Doc Watson. Check below for lineup schedule times. Friday tickets cost $15, and Saturday tickets cost $20. Advance reserve seating tickets cost $55 for both days. Purchase tickets at locations listed below or online at http://musicfestnsugargrove.org/.

Tickets are on sale at these locations: Boone Drug, Deerfield; Mast General Store, Boone; Mast General Store, Valle Crucis; Cove Creek Store, Sugar Grove; Historic Cove Creek High School; Boone Drug, Foscoe; Ashe Arts Council, West Jefferson; Welcome Center, Mtn. City; and Piedmont Federal Bank.

From the festival’s website: In addition to the wonderful music, you will enjoy an intimate setting where you can actually see the stage and mingle with the musicians. You will also be able to enjoy great food and soft drinks (Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Corn on the cob, Bar-B-Q, Thai Chicken, Alligator, Funnel Cakes, etc.). It all tastes wonderful in the fresh mountain air, warm sunshine and soft mountain breeze. Also, vendors of musical instruments/supplies, CDs, tapes, craft items, jewelry, t-shirts, caps, etc. will gladly send you home with a souvenir.
