May 2, 2012. The Second Annual Twilight Sticky Bun Run, sponsored by Allen Wealth Management, will take place on Saturday, May 5, at 5:30 p.m. The run is held on the Greenway and the run begins at Mayor’s Park, just down from the TotLot.

There is a $25 race-day registration fee. The registration fee for children is $10 for a separate “Sticky Bun Fun Run.” All proceeds from the event will benefit Grace Academy.

The Sticky Bun Run is open to all types of participants, from beginners to serious competitors, from walkers to runners, from seniors to students looking for a quick snack before heading out for a night on the town. The event is a four mile “athletic and culinary extravaganza” and the premise is simple: run two miles, eat four sticky buns, run two miles back.

The sticky buns will be provided by the Stick Boy Bread Company of Boone.

There will be one water station that services both outgoing runners and incoming runners. Earth Fare will also be providing juice at the finish.

When you sign up for the race, you must choose to register as a “Bunner” or a “Runner.” A Bunner runs all four miles, eats all four sticky buns, and qualifies to win the race (prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers). A Runner (or Walker) can run, walk, hop, crawl and eat as few or as many buns as they would like (up to four, of course). Runners (or Walkers) do not qualify for the medals.

No matter if you’re a Bunner or a Runner, everyone gets a T-shirt.
