The Martin House in Blowing Rock to Host a Third Season of Live Bluegrass Music Starting June 3

May 29, 2012. The Martin Laurel Band will begin the third season of live bluegrass music on June 3. The concerts will run every Sunday from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. thru the end of August. The Martin House Complex is located at 1116 Main Street in the heart of town. Built in 1870 the building is one of the oldest in Blowing Rock.

The band consists of Orman Key from Hickory; Orman sings and plays guitar. Denny Key of Lenoir: vocals and guitar. Bruce Hill of Blowing Rock: vocals and banjo. Gail Evans from nearby Tennessee: vocals and bass. Janet Calhoun of Blowing Rock: vocals and mandolin. The band plays traditional and new bluegrass, gospel and early country. Two and three part harmony makes for a great sound. The band will perform in the courtyard of the complex.

The Martin House is home to great shopping and eateries. Gems by Gemini, High Country Candles, The Dulcimer Shop, Pandora’s Mail Box and Bags Etc can found in the main house.
